We are located in The Lake District National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, overlooking England’s largest lake – Windermere - and the Lakeland Fells beyond.
We have 17 acres of private grounds including a large lawn and an ancient oak woodland. Our tranquil grounds offer a natural haven for wildlife and ample opportunities for star-gazing.

Main House
Our main House is the central hub of Ghyll Head. Bursting with traditional lakeside character, it is ideal for larger groups with 58 beds in dormitory style rooms (some en-suite). There is a group dining room and character living space ideal for quiet time, learning and indoor activities. The main house is offered on a fully catered basis, and the team will work with you to ensure all your dietary needs are met. The house hosts the main kit store and large kit drying area. Larger groups can book the Main House, Bungalow and the Lodge combined to give a total comfortable capacity of 87.
The Bungalow
The purpose-built bungalow offers modern facilities and is ideal for smaller groups, family stays and groups with additional needs. The Bungalow has a maximum capacity of 29 beds with a self-catering option for visitors as well as catered. The Bungalow has the most breath-taking views across Windermere, Coniston and Langdale. Situated only a few minutes' stroll from the main house. Can be combined with The Lodge for extra bed space.

- Level access to and from the Bungalow from our private adjacent car park.
- Level flooring throughout.
- 2 manual hoists available + 2 spacious wet rooms/bathroom with 1 portable shower table.
- 1 single room available with a profiling bed + 2 other rooms with space for wheelchair users.
- Lockable kitchen.
- Games Room/Meeting Room with ramped access at front and rear of building. Door alarms can be set if required.
- Access path around the lovely grounds enabling guests to reach our camp fire site and Tipi.
The Lodge
With amazing views across Windermere to the Coniston Fells beyond, our Lodge can be hired alongside either the Bungalow or House giving you an extra 14 bunk-bed places in 2 small dorms of 6 and a small room for 2. The Lodge has just 1 shared shower room / toilet and it’s important to note that there are no communal or kitchen facilities when hiring this building as a standalone booking. Windermere Boathouse
We have direct access to England's largest lake and have a range of water craft to suit all abilities including two specialist access dinghies. We have three safety boats and provide you with wet suits and all the safety kit you need. Our stunning cedar-clad boathouse is only a five-minute walk from the centre and has modern accessible facilities giving all students access for to the lake, jetties and showers. It boasts an equipped classroom with spectacular lake views. A lift through the building gives access to the ground floor and jetties where a hoist transfers those with mobility difficulties onto water craft.
The Hive Pod Village
Our Hive Pod Village has nine modern, heated wooden PODs. 5 x 5 berth, 1 x 2 berth and 1 x 3 berth. The PODs are located in their own discrete area within the Ghyll Head grounds. There is a heated facility block including toilets, showers and a small kitchen with fridge / freezer, microwave, kettle and sink. There is an outdoor cooking and BBQ area as well as woodland fire pit. In addition, there is a group room (or classroom) on site - Ideal for workshops, activity classes or for just spending time with your friends (if the weather is not so good outside!).
